Dangerous substances and items prohibited for carriage in hand luggage

What can I take in my carry-on? 

You can take everything that is not prohibited by law in your hand luggage on the plane. The list of prohibited items on board the aircraft is established by the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated July 27, 2023 No. 548 “On approval of the list of dangerous substances and items, as well as all types of drugs prohibited to passengers for transportation on civil aircraft.” 

It is prohibited to carry hand luggage on board a civil aircraft: 

• explosive objects, pyrotechnic devices (fake or imitation explosive devices); 
• Radioactive substances; 
• drugs, psychotropic drugs; 
• all gases and aerosols, except for medical purposes;
• flammable liquids; 
• flammable solids; 
• toxic, poisonous or caustic substances; 
• infectious or biologically hazardous materials; 
• firearms (including toys, dummies);
• edged weapons (including toys, dummies); 
• piercing and cutting objects, including scissors and razors (except for scissors with blunt or rounded ends with blades less than 3 centimeters long); 
• ammunition for firearms and gas weapons (including toys, dummies, imitations); 
• objects with blunted ends like bits; 
• liquids in containers of more than 100 ml, including:
– water and other beverages, soups, syrups, jams, stews, sauces and pastes;
     – food products in sauces or containing large amounts of liquid;
     – creams, lotions, cosmetics and oils;
     – perfume;
     – sprays;
     – gels, including hair and shower gels;
     – contents of pressurized containers, including shaving foam, other types of foams, deodorants;
     – pastes, including toothpaste;
     – mixtures of liquids with solids;
     – mascara;
– lip gloss; 
• any unknown liquids without a factory label, technical passport and certificate (compote, koumiss, honey). 


The exception for transportation is medicines, baby food and special dietary needs in the amount necessary for the duration of the flight, as well as liquids purchased at duty-free shops at the airport or on board the aircraft, packed in a securely sealed (sealed) plastic bag that provides visual identification of access to the contents of the package during the flight (receipt for the purchased product), which has reliable confirmation that, that this purchase was made at airport duty-free shops or on board the aircraft on the day(s) of the trip.

 

Dangerous substances and items prohibited for carriage in baggage: 

• portable electronic smoking devices powered by batteries, including:
electronic cigarettes, electronic thin cigars, electronic cigars, electronic tubes, personal vaporizers, electronic nicotine supply systems). The lithium content in batteries should not exceed 2 grams, and the specific power of lithium-ion batteries is 100 watt–hours.
• portable electronic devices (watches, calculators, cameras, cell phones, laptop computers, video cameras, etc.) containing lithium or lithium-ion cells, as well as spare batteries. No more than two separately protected spare batteries per person.
• For the transportation of portable electronic devices containing lithium-ion batteries and spare lithium-ion batteries with a specific wat-hour capacity of 100 watt-hours, but not exceeding 160 watt-hours, in agreement with the airline.
